• Tissue tests are increasingly showing that boron deficiency is becoming a problem on a widespread basis.
• Boron is more mobile in the soil than other nutrients and may be leached by heavy rains.
• Calcium deficiency is associated with disorders such as Internal Rust Spot, Hollow Heart, Cavity spot, and tip burn as well as reducing the crops resistance to diseases and giving poor skin finish and storage quality of potatoes, fruit and other vegetables.
• The combination of calcium with boron is more effective than calcium alone - without boron calcium may not bind into the cell walls thus not conferring the benefits.
• Programmes should be started early to ensure maximum benefit to developing foliage. Since Ca will not move from leaf to leaf, and not to the tuber, only leaves hit by spray will benefit.
• Even on calcareous soils crops benefit from the addition of highly available calcium.
• Calcium and boron Increase cell wall strength and help the plant to regulate its transpiration, thus enhancing the plants resistance to diseases and to stresses such as drought.
• High calcium and boron levels in leaves reduce wilting, thus giving better shelf-life for leafy vegetables. They also reduce the pull of calcium away from storage organs such as potato tubers and fruit. High calcium and boron levels in potatoes enhance skin finish and reduce susceptibility to tuber disease.
• SET is a foliar calcium and boron formulation designed for use on all arable and horticultural crops.
• Should be applied throughout the growing season for most effective results in terms of storage quality.
• Can be tank-mixed with most fungicides.
• Apply with blight sprays @ 10-14 day intervals @ 1-2l/ha.
